About the Film:
Directed by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman. 2017. Poland / UK. 91 min.
Hawai‘i is so lucky to have van Gogh’s Wheat Field—you can practically feel the sun drying out the bales in a French field. And you can see it any day in our Impressionism Gallery. Now you can see everything through van Gogh’s eyes in the highly anticipated animated film Loving Vincent.
This stunning work brings van Gogh’s paintings to life to tell his remarkable story. Every one of the 65,000 frames of the film is an oil-painting commissioned from 125 artists who travelled from all across the world to the Loving Vincent studios in Poland and Greece to be a part of the production. As remarkable as Vincent’s brilliant paintings, is his passionate and ill-fated life, and mysterious death.
